Sound Cloud

I came across a website that I thought might be interesting to use in a teaching context.  It’s called sound cloud and it is an audio platform that enables anyone to upload, record, promote and share their originally-created sounds.  I was wondering if it could be used for teaching in some way… any thoughts?

innovative learning

Sorry I missed the SL meeting as I’ve been ill and also lost my diary…!  I hope that everyone had fun there.

I was looking up innovative learning as I wasn’t sure that I really understood what it meant and came across this on Wikipedia.  I could be interesting for us OLL

Second Life

Ok… what the heck is that all about.  I ended up on a beach with what looked like a naked man.  I found it really hard to move around and actually do anything, then the whole thing crashed lol… I’ll maybe give it another go… maybe!

Wiki

I’ve been working on my wiki but it’s taking a lot longer than I thought it would.  I’m really interested in the idea of students collectively producing textual language resources which they can then all use to help them on their language courses.  I think that it also adds a task-based element to a course where the learners are interdependent and collectively scaffolding.  Would you have to have different wikis for different levels?  Would a student of a pre-intermediate level feel confident in creating such a thing with an upper-intermediate student?  Whether or not the actual use of the wiki in itself is actually practical for everyone, I am not sure.  I suppose that it might depend on what students you have.

PebblePad

I went on a short intro to PebblePad course today through Edinburgh Uni IS skills events.  There is actually a lot that you can do with it.  Blogging, creating websites, storing documents etc…  I’d recommend that everyone takes a look at it and considers using it.

webCT

After starting our own blogs, webCT looks so dull and clinical… I don’t even want to use it!  I was actually going to put this on webCT but changed my mind and wrote it here instead.  Anyone else feel like this???
